VP debate Wynnterview

Earlier this evening, Tyson Wynn interviewed me and Jason Carini of Oklahomans for Responsible Government about tonight's vice presidential debate between Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) and Sen. Joe Biden (D-Delaware). Click that link to listen and download the podcast.

I thought Palin did a wonderful job and clearly came out the winner. She was effective at explaining John McCain's platform, defending her own record, and going on the attack against the policies and experience of the Obama-Biden ticket. Biden made some statements tonight that are going to require some explaining and backtracking from Barack Obama's campaign.

Good blog commentary elsewhere:

Here are Michelle Malkin's live blogging and post debate recap entries.

John Mark Reynolds has been doing a fine job of rebutting the panicky anti-Palinites on the right. Here's his live-blog of the debate and his wrapup post.

Snap polls after the debate showed Biden as the decisive winner, well beyond the margin of error. So that saying that Palin "clearly" was the winner is a decidedly minority and thus dubious view.

Care to provide us with a link, W.? Daily Kos, perhaps? Every poll I've seen had Palin as the winner overwhelmingly.

Let me make sure I understand your final point: Are you saying that your view that historic Route 66 properties should be preserved from demolition -- a decidedly minority view -- is therefore dubious?

Here you Mr. bates:

Here's CBS:

Here's CNN
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/03/biden.palin.analysis/index.html

Now it's your turn to present the some unsubstantiated allegation that these organizations are biased.

"the some unsubstantiated allegation"????

Regarding CBS, ever hear of Rathergate?

CNN has changed the debate transcript to soften an embarrassing gaffe by Biden.

Thank you for making my point. You provide two instances that have nothing whatsoever to do with the accuracy of the data presented by these entities on the issue of how average citizens viewed the debate.

Your assertion that Palin won the debate, while your opinion, is objectively shown as not being held by a majority of those who watched.

Who won the debate?

I think Gov Palin won the debate. Here you have a Senator that has been in Washington for over 30 years and here is a newcomer on the scene for 5 weeks that basically made him out to be unfamiliar with his own responses. He looked confident but not completely sure. She talked to the people watching in the audience and on TV. Sen Biden would state things that weren't true and she hit him hard with it.She pointed out that he stated before hand that Sen.Obama was not ready for the office of President. He stated these things weren't true. Here is the part I like best. She stated, wait until tomorrow when the people can check these things out for themselves and they will see who is speaking the truth. That was the hammer coming down. People have stated that Sen Biden won. However, when the people I know checked the actual recorded responses of Sen. Biden they knew who really wasn't in control and telling the truth. I say, Good try Joe but no cigar.

Michael,

I wouldn't get too bent about bobble-heading rubes for Obama like Mike B. thinking Biden won the debate. I heard first hand from an acquaintance who was in attendance that folks were snickering about Plagiarizing Joe's "I'm bipartisan" comment. For 35 years, he's been one of the two or three most partisan hacks in Washington, starting as a Jr. Senator at the Bork fiasco.

No matter who one the debate, all the lackeys like Mike B. and the MSM were telling us what a lightweight Sarah Palin was.

I think it would be more than fair to say that for a woman who according to the elites is a hick, Mrs. Palin sure seemed to hold her own against the sophisticate who has done nothing but the politic for 35 years.

Biden should have cleaned up. The fact we are even debating who won shows the talent of the Dimocratic candidate...

"bobble-heading rubes for Obama like Mike B."

Really, Brent Taylor? With all that time to think up a clever personal insult that's the best you could do? And even then you misspelled it? (I believe you meant "bobble-headED", not "bobble-headING.")

In any case, a simple reading of the posts up until now would demonstrate to you my assertion that, my personal beliefs aside, the American public (you know, "Joe six-pack") thought that Biden won. (Although, I guess you would now call them "elites" as well.)

Gov. Palin aptly demonstrated to the country why the McCain - Palin ticket will be just a memory on November 5.

Mike B.,

You have 48 hours to respond and all you can do is point out a typo? You can't even come up with a retort? Typical depth of a lib. I'll be sure to preview this time for the pedantic, neo-pagan worshippers of the Prophet Obama such as yourself.

So you think Biden won, huh Mike? Well, how about this beauty as you reconsider your objectivity:

Jolting Joe Biden:Vice President Cheney has been the most dangerous vice president we’ve had probably in American history. The idea he doesn’t realize that Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that’s the Executive Branch. He works in the Executive Branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that.

The problem is, Article 1 of the Constitution grants the Vice President his/her role. It is Article 2 that provides the Executive branch their enumerated powers. Article 1 is for the legislature.”

And this is supposedly your illustrious candidate's field of expertise? That’s kind of like taking your car in for a repair shop Mike and the top mechanic telling you the problem with your automobile is the wing fell off.

Nonetheless, win or lose in November, your worthless life will still be just as miserable. And your Dimocratic party just as feckless - Dhimmi Carter redo. I can wait four years...

Mike B.,

Reading up a little through the thread, I happened to peruse thru some of your more recent comments: For instance, what's this?

"Here you Mr. bates:"

Did you have a mental lapse? Would that be "Hear ye! Hear ye! The Honorable Judge Bates? Or here you go Mr. Bates?

Reading thru some of your previous posts, the only real word that comes to my mind is "copper headed shill..." Anybody that thinks CBS objective must also think Keith Olbermann THE MAN!

Hey Michael,

You know how lib hacks love to quote polls (like Mike B.)? How they love to claim victory? Remember that decisive win for Joe Biden in the V.P. debate? Let's hope Obama shows a decisive win in debate II.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/06/opinion/polls/main4504633.shtml

Shills like Mike can rant all they want, can quote all the polls they want, but at the end of the day, it's not the statistics that matter boys but the score on the board.

Chalk up another win for Mrs. Palin...
