Inside the Ghost Ships of the Mothball Fleet | Beyond the Photos

In 2011, a group of urban explorers made clandestine trips to photograph the "Mothball Fleet" just east of Benicia, California, in Suisun Bay, the eastern arm of San Francisco Bay. The ships, stored there after World War II as a reserve for some future conflict, are being removed and (with a few exceptions) scrapped one-by-one. The fleet includes the Hughes Mining Barge, still holding the stealthy Sea Shadow. (The barge has since been sold and the Sea Shadow was scrapped.)
