Tulsans?

Tulsans for Better Government, the campaign to emasculate representative democracy in Tulsa, has a website. Who registered the domain?

Nice to know the folks from Jenks are so interested in Tulsa's form of government.

Meanwhile, a commenter over at MeeCiteeWurkor's place makes a good point about the effect of the at-large council scheme:

If this idea goes through rich citizens will have bought a third of the votes on the council PLUS have their own council district vote. They would only need two of the six districts to vote with the at-large members to over-ride the other four districts.

That seems to be the idea.

UPDATE: A reader did some googling and found that that Jenks address belongs to Jeffrey Beasley, president of Straxis Technology LLC. He gained recognition back in May for being one of the top five fundraisers in the second week of the Tulsa Metro Chamber's annual Resource Campaign. Straxis joined the Chamber in April, and Jeff Beasley is the "crew leader" for the Policy and Governance committee of TYpros, the Chamber-controlled knockoff of YPTulsa, the independent young professionals' organization. (The co-leader of that crew is Michael Willis, who serves on Mayor Bill LaFortune's staff.)

UPDATE 11/2/2005: Jeff Beasley emails to say:

Please update your blog to accurately reflect our companies address and location.

Straxis Technology, LLC
507 S. Main, Suite 400
Tulsa, OK 74103

I'm glad to post the additional information, but I didn't post anything inaccurate. What you see above was the current domain registration record for tulsansforbettergovernment.com when I posted this entry on October 29. And here is the current domain registration record for straxis.com:

Presumably he'll get around to updating the address on his company's domain record at some point.

The Jenks address appears to be a home address -- a JEFFREY S BEASLEY was registered to vote at that address as recently as last year.

Yep, that seems to be the idea! I happened to get a copy of the Urban Tulsa Weekly October 27-Nov.2 and was wondering if you could post that cartoon of Brick and Wood that is on the same page as SEEING THE LIGHT ON CITY CHARTER opinion/editorial by Michael Bates. Good article!
Ken Neal's opinions for the Tulsa World has lost my trust. It's great having Michael for fair and balanced reporting!

Tulsans for Better Government's scheme is something Tulsa voters should wake up and see what is going on! Too often citizens are too busy these days to educate themselves on city politics.

The handling of the Great Plains Airlines financial mess the financial and all records with names of ALL THE INVESTORS showing the exact DOLLAR AMOUNT (NOT WHAT PERCENTAGE AS THE TULSA WORLD STAFF WRITERS LIKES TO DUMB DOWN IT'S READERS) and all the dealmakers should be open to the public since the mess is expected to be cleaned up and the BURDEN OF COST put on citizens of Tulsa. Who thinks government should do such a thing and get away with it by covering up all of the information?

Voters in the next election should seek all those
names involved in the Great Plains Airlines scam.
I say scam as what kind of conscience does the BANK OF OKLAHOMA have in turning down a loan twice on the Great Plains Airlines as has been reported and then approve it with what was presented on the third try? Then try to use publicity with the Tulsa World which just happens to be just a few streets away from their own Bank of Oklahoma DOWNTOWN building. Of course Bank of OK is 100% FOR the ARENA PROJECT. NOW THEY WANT TO PUT THEIR LOGO AND NAME ON THE ARENA! ANYBODY SEE A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!? ALL OF A SUDDEN EVEN THOUGH DOWNTOWN HAS BEEN LIKE A GHOST TOWN WITH RUN DOWN AND EMPTY BUILDINGS, BOK SUDDENLY "Hopes" THEY CAN BRING IN THE CORRECT BUSINESSES WITH AN AIRPORT AREA IN THE FINANCIAL MESS IT IS IN NOW?

My brother-in-law is excellent in business. Every venture he sets out to invest in turns an amazing profit, but he takes responsibility if he invests and wins good for him. If he invests
and something goes sour, he would pay the price.

Almost every year he buys a brand new very expensive sports car and my kids love to drive around in it. He will jokingly say he will give
the car to my kids if he still owns it in a few years. The point is he knows in advance, he is not going to own the car in a few years so they will never get that particular luxury car.

The Tulsans for Better Government appear to be just as finacially well to do and have a representative that's a slick talker using the Tulsa World newspaper as bait and yes we always know in advance we won't get a fair and balanced opinion/editorial on City Council issues to make people think Medlock
and other good people on the Council should have
every right and the GOOD PUBLICITY WHICH THEY NEVER SEEM TO GET and a good chance of making Tulsa aware of possible
corrupt behavior going on in City government.
I believe Mrs.
Feldman used to be an employee of the Univ. of Tulsa. Does it make anyone uncomfortable that the University of Tulsa's REPUTATION or any employer of Chris Medlock as confidential as a transcript request is who is it that gave that information on Chris Medlock being short a class credit? Obviously, the writers that wrote about
that representing the Tulsa World news was not in class with Chris Medlock at T.U. to have knowledge of that, so how did that confidential information get released from the University of
Tulsa academic records office?

THAT SHOULD BE QUESTIONED AND SO SHOULD ALL OF THE RECORDS CHRIS MEDLOCK IS SEEKING IN THE GREAT PLAINS AIRLINES financial mess.

See if your brother-in-law cares enough of what's going on around here to donate $16,000 to obtain the records on Great Pains.

I am sure with all the brilliant lawyers in Tulsa County, one of them could fight to have those records available at no cost. Look at your PIKE PASS bill and see how just one law firm helped the person they were representing.
